Today we will look at what’s the meaning of seek the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said those words in the verses below;
Luke 12:31 Bu rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We start by defining seek and kingdom of God.
According to KJV dictionary seek is to go in search or quest of; to look for; to search for by going from place to place. To inquire for; to ask for; to solicit; to endeavor to find or gain by any means.
Kingdom of God
The word kingdom in Hebrew is made of two words: King and Doom.
King is one who has supreme authority over a city, tribe or nation.
Doom meaning law or judgment.
From the two definitions we draw the meaning of the kingdom of God. Therefore, the Kingdom of God is where God has supreme authority, therefore, his laws/judgments are followed. His laws are His Word.
So, the meaning of seek the kingdom of God is search, solicit, quest from place to place to allow God to have supreme authority over you, and so, you live governed by his Word.
Therefore, READING THE WORD OF GOD IS IMPORTANT AND OBEYING IT MORE IMPORTANT. This is because reading will let you know his law and by obeying it you subject yourself to His authority. You cannot seek the Kingdom of God without reading and obeying his word.
Move from place to place -Read from Genesis to Revelation. Attend fellowships where God’s word is rightly divided. Endevour to gain or find the word of God by all means. Then obey it to subject yourself to God’s authority, making him your King.
Unlike the heathens who prioritize seeking earthly gain, Christians should prioritize Seeking the Kingdom of God. When you seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness earthly things will be added to you!!
Choose to seek the kingdom of God.
Fo those who are not born again
The first step in making God your King (have absolute authority over you) is by been born again. Remember Jesus said to Nicodemus that unless a man is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
To be born again means one has received Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and savior by confessing with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in the heart that God raised him from the dead. Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. By the power of the Holy Spirit the person is regenerated, becomes a new creation born of the spirit. Born again because once was born of the flesh and now by receiving Christ he/she is born of the spirit.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
After been born again, the journey of submitting to the authority of God continues. You must earnestly and persistently search to allow God to be your absolute authority by reading his word and live according to his word.
