Today we look at 5 truths about agape love. Love that is not of human origin but God’s origin. This is the love that we Christians should have and express to others and to God.

  1. Love is greater than giving, it’s greater than sacrificing your body.

1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Giving is good but is not greater than love. It is in vain to give if you do not love.

Love then give.

  1. You cannot love without being born of God.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

God is love, therefore, only those born of him can know how to truly love. Those born of God learn from him because they hear his voice.

Outside of God who is love, it is impossible to love.

  1. Once you are born again of God, you can go through long periods of suffering and still have a kind and gentle nature, because it’s God in you.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not.

Love is long-suffering and is kind. So, when you go through troubles, caused by people or nature you can endure and still be kind.

  1. We express to God that we love him by obeying his word

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 5: 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

John14: 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Each time you live by the word of God, you are expressing to God that you love him and you are his friend.

John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

A mutual relationship of friendship between us and God is created by us following his commands.

And his commandments are not grievous.

  1. God’s commandment is that we should love one another as he has loved us.

John 15: 12 This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends

As a child of God, you should love one another and find ways to show love to others. Because this is God’s commandment. You should also find ways to let others know you appreciate them.

When you live in an atmosphere of love it brings healing to mind, body, and soul.

If you abide in the love of God, God who is love will be with you to lead and guide us.

When you abide in Godly love it’s impossible to sin because you can’t abide in Godly love without God living in you.

In conclusion, have a relationship with God. Allow him to love you, teach you how to love you and others. Agape love will help you sail through life cheerfully, pleasing God and representing him lovingly to others.
